A 23-year-old Canton Township man was injured after falling from the roof of a fraternity house while trying to help a friend find his shoes, Ann Arbor police said.

Police responded to the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity house at 1319 Cambridge Road shortly after 2 a.m. and found the man on the ground bleeding, with some bandages provided by witnesses as he waited for an ambulance, reports said.

The man, a fraternity alumnus, was conscious and talking, and was taken to the University of Michigan Medical Center, where his condition was unknown this morning, Detective Sgt. Richard Kinsey said.

Witnesses told police the man became concerned about his 22-year-old friend who was intoxicated and had gone onto the roof to get one of his shoes that was placed there as a prank during a party.

The Canton man slipped while trying to climb onto the roof from a second-story window.
