About Us

We are Ann Arbor Firefighters Local 693 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.  We currently have 81 members that provide services to include fire suppression, EMS, hazmat, and technical rescue.  We serve the community of Ann Arbor, Michigan and the University of Michigan. Population not including commuters is 114,000 in a 27 square mile area. We have 3 shifts and work one 24 hour day on and two 24 hour days off in a rotating cycle.  We staff five or six companies per day from five stations depending on staffing for the day.  Our only Tower ladder truck at  fire station 1 is closed when staffing goes below 18.   Our minimum staffing currently is 15 per day to run 6000 plus calls a year.
